The new 2018 Red Paddle 15’0″ Voyager Tandem board is the ultimate inflatable SUP for multi-paddler exploration. Offering plenty of deck space, gear tie down points, and rugged durability, this big SUP is capable of carrying up to 3 paddlers and an impressive amount of gear.
Large tandem paddle boards are becoming more popular as people are discovering how much fun it can be to paddle with friends. While there are multi-rider racing SUPs that are built for speed such as Red Paddle’s 22’0 Dragon, the 15’0″ Voyager Tandem is primarily designed with buoyancy and stability in mind.
We’re really excited about the 2018 Red Paddle Co boards and we love the direction the company is taking. The 2018 Voyager lineup replaces Red Paddle’s Explorer range, and we’re quite impressed with these new models.
In this review of the new 2018 Red Paddle 15’0″ Voyager Tandem SUP, we’ll discuss Red Paddle’s unique construction process, the board’s best features, specs, warranty coverage, and what comes with it. Additionally, we’ll share current Red Paddle coupon codes and recommend the best places to buy Red Paddle’s new Voyager Tandem SUP from.
2018 Red Paddle 15′ Voyager Tandem: Board Overview
Measuring 15’0″ x 34″ x 8″, the 2018 Red Paddle Co 15′ Voyager Tandem board is super stable and packs a serious amount of buoyancy. Capable of supporting up to 3 riders plus gear, this super stiff 723 L board glides well in the water and is incredibly fun for long distance paddling, camping, and multi-day paddling excursions.
Like the Red Paddle 12’6″ Voyager and 13’2″ Voyager+ models, the 15’0″ Voyager Tandem is built using the company’s MSL Fusion construction technology. Built in Red Paddle’s private, in-house production facilities, the 15’0″ Voyager Tandem features a cutting edge construction process that eliminates unnecessary materials, human errors, and reduces overall weight. Built with precise machinery, the end result is a board that is lighter in weight, stronger, stiffer, and better looking cosmetically.
Red Paddle’s proprietary Tec Air construction process is managed entirely in-house — a stark contrast to other board companies who outsource production to overseas factories. This allows Red Paddle Co to produce some of the highest-quality inflatable SUPs on the market today, and their worldwide popularity and reputation for top-shelf durability are a testimony that they know what it takes to make a great inflatable paddle board.
The top deck of the 2018 Red Paddle 15’0″ Voyager Tandem paddle board features a multi-colored, extended length traction pad that is divided into three sections. The front and rear sections of the deck pad use a diamond pattern for increased grip, while the center piece features a smoother surface that is neatly embossed with the “Red” logo.
The middle of the board has six D-rings with an elastic bungee cord for securing gear, four grab handles near the rails, and a center carrying handle.
At the board’s nose is a second bungee cord storage area with four more D-rings. One of the D-rings features a built-in accessory mount that is compatible with the Ram Mounts and Railblaza mounting systems. There’s also another grab handle at the tip of the nose with a second built-in accessory mount — a perfect place for attaching a GoPro camera, fishing rods, cell phone, and other accessories.
Located at the tail of the 15’0″ Voyager Tandem are twin Tec Air inflation valves as well as an additional grab handle with a built-in stainless steel D-ring for attaching a SUP leash.
The underside of the board features three runner fins for improved tracking. There’s one located at the board’s nose and two at the board’s tail on either side of the large removable FCS touring fin.
